Tropical Storm Bertha: Gulf Shores’ Resilient Response to a Recent Storm

Just a few days ago, Gulf Shores felt the force of Tropical Storm Bertha as it swept through our coastal community. While the storm didn’t reach hurricane strength, it certainly made its presence known—reminding us all of the unpredictable nature of living by the Gulf.

Bertha arrived with heavy rain, gusty winds, and churning waves that turned our usually tranquil beaches into a dramatic scene. Streets saw minor flooding, and local businesses and residents worked quickly to secure property and check on neighbors. It was a testament to the Gulf Shores spirit—neighbors helping neighbors, everyone looking out for one another.

Thankfully, Bertha moved through quickly, sparing us from major damage. Power outages were scattered and brief, and by the next morning, the sun peeked through, and the community began its clean-up efforts. City crews and volunteers wasted no time clearing debris and restoring our beautiful shoreline.

Events like Tropical Storm Bertha remind us how important it is to stay prepared during storm season. Keeping emergency kits stocked, having a family plan, and staying tuned to local weather alerts can make all the difference. If you’re new to the area, now’s a great time to connect with neighbors and local resources.

While Bertha has moved on, the sense of togetherness it inspired lingers. Gulf Shores has weathered many storms, and each one brings us closer as a community. Stay safe, stay connected, and let’s keep looking out for each other as we move through the rest of the season.
